The magical city of Amsterdam is the capital city of Netherlands.  This city is considered to be one of the financial and cultural centers of Europe. The large number of tourist attractions in the city has helped rank Amsterdam as one of the most visited cities in the world. The city is known for its festivals as it celebrates approximately 75 of them per year. What are the main attractions in this small city in Europe Let us find out.

The Dam Square is one of the attractions you will find within the city. This dam is located in the center of a historical area where tourists go to see the architecture of the buildings and the beautiful sights. The fascinating events organized at this square are the main attractions of this location though. There are tourists at the Dam Square both day and night and locals normally organize a fun fair at the square on Christmas Eve and New Year.

Another attraction in the city is the Maqere Brug. This is a small wooden footbridge painted in white and which is used to cross the River Amstel that flows through the historic center of the city. Maqere Brug is decorated with 1200 light bulbs which add much beauty to the bridge at night.

The Rembrandtplein is a small square with pubs, restaurants, cafes and hotels. The square is famed for Dutch pubs and the divine Dutch music played in the pubs. During the summer the square is filled with drinkers who just want to enjoy the nightlife of the city. There is also a small park in the center of the square where tourists can relax under the tree shades.

Amsterdamís canals make Amsterdam city the Venice of north Europe. The major canals here are Herengracht, Keizersbracht and Singel. There are also numerous canals in the neighboring areas of Jordan, Boemgracht and Leliegracht that are all a lovely site to behold.

The Qude Kerk is an old church surrounded by small houses on its sides. It is located in the heart of the Freneric red light district. The church attracts tourists due to its Gothic-renaissance style and the octagon bell tower that was used by sailors to get their bearing.

There is also the Artis Zoo which is located in the center of the city. This is the oldest zoo in Holland and it mainly consists of botanical gardens, a Planetarium, and a geological and zoological museum. There are also animals from all over the world in the zoo.

Last but not least, the Vondel Garden is a very famous botanical garden in the Netherlands. This is one of the oldest of such gardens in the world and here you will find more than 300 plants. This garden is visited by almost 10 million visitors per year..
